This project represents a design proposal for a single bed patient
room located in the southwest corner of my proposal. The main focus was to find the proper
volumetric qualities to affect the patient’s condition in positive way. The patient
should feel protected and comfortable and must not be overwhelmed or threatened. To archive this goal, two differently sized volumes were combined. The volume where the patient’s bed is located is small to achieve an intimate quality. This also creates a sense of protection and a higher degree of privacy for the patient in bed. The bigger volume is occupied by a living space and study area.
