The Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning and Design is privileged to have as an upcoming guest lecturer Neil P. Frankel, FAIA, FIIDA.  His slide illustrated lecture entitled

In the Pursuit of Excellence 

will be given on Tuesday, November 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of the K-State Student Union.  The presentation is open to the public without charge.

Neil Frankel is a member of the graduate faculty at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee.  Previous to that appointment, Frankel was responsible for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill’s Chicago architectural interiors practice.  He also was the Design Principal of Perkins and Will in Chicago and New York, after having a similar role at Swanke Hayden Connell in Chicago.  Frankel’s professional career has been characterized by a commitment to excellence in design and client service. 

An author of many articles on the design environment, Frankel’s work is featured in prominent publications.  This year, he has also served on the jury for the United States Presidential Design Award and as the Chair of the American Institute of Architects Interiors Honor Awards Jury.  Nationally recognized for his design awards, Frankel is a frequent participant in national roundtable discussions on current design issues.  In 1998, Frankel was elected President of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and to the Board of Trustees of Worldesign Foundation.  With the 1999 introduction of the Frankel Series of seating and tables, Frankel joined a prestigious list of architects who have designed product for Knoll International.

Frankel was elected into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1994 and to the IIDA College of Fellows in 1997.  He is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Frankel’s visit is co-sponsored by the Mid America Chapter, IIDA, and the Kansas State University Student Fine Arts Fee.
