on Friday, March 2, 2001, at 4:00 pm in the Little Theater in the K-State Student Union. The presentation is open to the public without charge.

Andersson leads the landscape architecture unit for one of the largest architecture offices in Sweden, FFNS Architects. After receiving a degree in Art History from the University of Uppsala, Sweden, in 1976 and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University in Alnarp, Sweden, in 1981 he began his involvement in landscape architecture which embraces both professional, academic and scholarly endeavors. Since 1983, Andersson has practiced in collaboration with architecture firms in Sweden. His projects focus on both the revitalization of existing urban spaces and the design of new urban sites which are located in towns and cities all over Sweden, including Stockholm, Malmö and Göteborg, as well as abroad.

In addition to having served on numerous juries for national and international competitions in architecture and landscape architecture, Andersson has been a visiting professor and guest critic at various universities and research centers in the Scandinavian countries, including the Departments of Architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Chalmers University in Göteborg, and the Institute of Technology in Helsinki, Finland. He has also taught and lectured at the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley; the Benetton Studi Ricerche in Treviso, Italy; and the Institute for Landscape and Garden Design at Karlsruhe University, Germany. This semester, he is a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University.

A prolific lecturer and writer with a focus on 20th century landscape architecture, Andersson founded Utblick Landskap magazine in 1984, the first and only landscape architecture magazine in Sweden. He has contributed chapters to a number of books, including Modern Landscape Architecture: A Critical Review, edited by Marc Treib. In the production of the Swedish National Encyclopedia (1986-96), he was the subject editor and author for landscape architecture and urban design. His essays and articles have been published in a variety of international journals and magazines, including Anthos (Switzerland), and the Journal of Garden History (USA).

Andersson has received numerous awards for his professional work, including the St. Erik Foundation Award and the Stockholmsgillet Award in 1998, the Stenpriset from the Swedish Association of Architects, and the Stora Pris (Grand Prize) from the Swedish Association of Practicing Architects. One of his recent projects was chosen to represent Sweden at the Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy, in 2000.
